Statesboro-based Dabbs Williams General Contractors is honored to receive the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) Charter Award.  The firm will be recognized for its work on the Historic Savannah Ellis Square Redevelopment Project on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 5:30 pm in Salt Lake City, UT.

Ellis Square was chosen as one of only nine projects internationally to receive this distinction.  This award represents the premier recognition for excellence in urban design and advancement of urban principles.

Each year, CNU’s Charter Awards recognize projects across the world that best embody and advance the principles of the Charter of the New Urbanism.  As selected by a jury of leading urbanists, honorees set the gold standard for urban design and development and serve as powerful examples for future development.  In addition to the CNU’s 2013 Charter Award, Dabbs Williams received the 2011 Savannah Preservation Award, the AGC 2011 Build Georgia Award and the Merit Award – Best Sustainable Building Practices for the Ellis Square Redevelopment.

“Dabbs Williams is honored to receive this prestigious award for the Ellis Square Redevelopment”, said Brad Williams, Vice President/Principal of Dabbs Williams.  The project represents a productive interface of the public and private sectors and a major interdisciplinary collaboration that models a framework for sustainable development within a historic urban context of international significance.

A crowning achievement for the City of Savannah, the 53,000 square foot Ellis Square Redevelopment started construction in April of 2009 and was opened to the public in March of 2010. Following the city’s completion of an 1100 space underground parking deck and the Avia Hotel, Dabbs-Williams General Contractors was awarded the contract to construct the final and most visible public design feature for this project, the park and facilities on top of the parking garage.  An interactive fountain was designed that featured multiple computer programming options for water and light shows which provide a refreshing oasis during Savannah’s warm summer days.

Now in its second decade, Dabbs Williams is dedicated to providing value-added general contracting services to the Southeastern United States and is committed to delivering quality projects within budget and on schedule. Dabbs Williams is dedicated to serving its clients and exceeding expectations through exceptional performance by every member of the team.
